Sanderling? Lancaster County Pennsylvania (1 Viewer)

Yes It looks good for a Sanderling to me yes the black and white feathers on the back are remains of juvenile feathers I can only ever remember one bird with these black and white markings covering all the back area and clean and sharp In detail which was well away from the coast and Inland In our peak district National Park In North Derbyshire In the UK at the end of April on passage over 25 years ago now.
 
Could you give the date, please? This is often important in shorebird ID. Thanks.
Yes, sanderling: an adult in spring/summer (note well-marked chest, which juveniles don't have). If it's taken recently it could be a returning adult of 2+ years old and thus presumably male. If taken a while ago that may indicate a 1-year-old summering well south of the breeding grounds.
