Ring Necked Duck, Lancashire? Today (1 Viewer)

A friend of mine spotted this and photographed with his phone.

Could this be confirmed as a pure drake Ring Necked Duck?

Tufted duck, lack of a white ring on the base of the bill, missing the greyish wash to the flanks. Tuft is just flat.

Tufted duck: the subterminal white on the bill isn't unusual, there's none of ring-necked duck's white at the bill-base, and the head-shape is wrong for ring-necked duck (the flank colour also appears wrong for ring-necked duck but that could be due to the exposure).
