Hi all,
See below, a request from Anita Donaghy of BirdWatch Ireland with regards to breeding records of Curlew in Ireland.
All the best,
Niall
"BirdWatch Ireland is currently appealing for any records of breeding curlew and would be grateful for your help. We are keen to receive records from anywhere in the country, but are particularly seeking records for Donegal, Cavan, Leitrim and Monaghan this year as part of the Halting Environmental Loss Project (HELP) a cross border project with RSPB, funded by INTERREG IVA.
Recent Atlas data and surveys show that Curlew numbers have plummeted in Ireland and we urgently need to protect the remaining pairs. Birds start to breed from early to mid April onwards, and their distinctive bubbling call is instantly recognisable, (listen to a call at http://www.birdwatchireland.ie/Ourwork/CryoftheCurlewAppeal/tabid/1106/Default.aspx). Please send any records to Anita Donaghy at [email protected], or contact the Donegal office on 07491 29905."
