Took my birding class out to see this rarity. Likely the same individual which has been present on the Farallons since 23 October. Identified yesterday, 8 November by Peter Winch at the Greater Farallon National Marine Sanctuary offices. Appears to be second cycle molting primaries. Thigh feathers and undertail coverts seem bedraggled or wet. Previous specimen records from California refer to the small dark race S. s. websteri of the Eastern tropical pacific. Digiscoped with Panasonic DMC-LX5 | Nikon FieldScope III | 30XWA | hand-held (no adapter).
