Poland May (1 Viewer)

My May plans seemed to have changed - thanks to people who gave info. on Estonia it'll be useful for future -and it looks like I'll be spending 4/5 days in Poland. We'll probably concentrate on Bialowieza I'm usually not big on hiring guides but I know we'll have to hire one to go into the reserve proper here so anyone got any recommendations for a good one?

I've checked out the usual trip report websites has anyone got any more useful info/advise. I'd particularly be interested in any mammal gen.

Cheers

Hi Steve,
I am familiar with birding in Poland but Western area, not eastern. Dave Gosney (birdguides) does a good pamphlet/booklet on your planned area. Costs about a fiver or I could forward you my copy. Getting on for 7 + years old now but still good initial guide.
However, have you thought of West Pomerania, accessible from Szczecin (pronounced Stetcheen) airport (Ryan air from Stansted.) Great sites locally, easily accessible either by bus or hire car. Check www.clanga.com for more details, esp click on interesting places. Good guides even if English is a little mixed.
If you require further details then PM me.
Cheers,
Jono

I cannot help you with guides, but other good area is Biebrza wetlands and you don't really need a guide there.
