Places for Bird Photography in Yorkshire in September (1 Viewer)

Another vote for Potteric Carr here. Went in the autumn a couple of years ago, and the feeding station gave good views of both the reed buntings, woodpecker and at waters edge, water rail.

If you've a macro, or a tamron/sigma 70-300mm lens, then at this time of year look at ground level - there are beds of beautiful fungi on the go, especially fly agaric!

I was at Filey Brigg last Thurs and there were plenty of good opportunities. Gannets came close in and were plunging into a shoal of fish, four species of tern resting on the rocks, red necked grebe and red throated diver in the bay.

Thanks to everybody for all the help

Hi Chris,

What time of day would you say is best?

Thanks, Sam

If you decide on the Yorkshire coast Garnata and I'm available, I'm happy enough to show you around the Filey or Scarborough area.

Hi, you're best off checking the tide times. This was my first visit there so can't speak from experience. I was there in the afternoon and the tide was going out. The high tide was 12:23 and low would have been 18:44. I left at approx 15:45.
There was also a seal in the bay and if you like turnstones then you can get close ups without bins as they will come very close.
I didn't venture too far onto the brigg (maybe a third of the way) as I didn't want to go disturbing the terns or the other waders that were resting there.
