Pipit, Ireland East (1 Viewer)

pianoman

duck and diver, bobolink and weaver
This occasional visitor to Dun Laoghaire Pier seems curiously pale and warm coloured compared to the Rock Pipits I usually see around here. Is it anything unusual, or within the normal range for this species?

Thanks in advance

Andrew

Thanks. Behaviour and habitat like RP (picture is actually the base of the pier). There are other RP there but they are noticeably darker, especially in the legs.

Yes to rock pipit but a really weird one. As well as being pale, it’s got barred greater coverts, tertials and tail feathers.

Here's another couple of presumably the same bird on a different occasion, in case they are of any help. These pictures are from mid April this year.
