Might be killing some time in Ipswich soon, thought that the area under the Orwell Bridge might be productive - anyone able to advise where the best place to park is?

there are a couple of laybys on thr road just passed the bridge travelling away from ipswich there is usually space

Best bet is probably the B1456 to Chelmondiston, which runs very close to the estuary on the west side - if I remember rightly, there are a few pull ins along here, and I've seen people looking here.
