While fishing Monday 13/5/13 I observed a bird working the shoreline towards me on Horden beach County Durham. When it was within 30 yards of the area I was fishing I realised it was an Osprey. I'm wondering if this is a rarity in this part of the country.

An Osprey was reported over Hartlepool on the 12th, though not common in the area they do occur in small numbers annually.

There was one seen over Fulwell around 2pm today perhaps the same bird?

Could be, one was reported south of the Tees shortly before the Hartlepool sighting, possibly a late bird on its way back north
