NE Wales birdingwatching (2 Viewers)

On the way to visit relatives today on the Wirral, stopped off at deeside ind park to see if we could find any waxwings. Dipped out on them, but 6 fieldfares on the roundabout on parkway before sixth ave as well as 1 pied wag. Down by sixth ave, couple more ffs plus 1 v nice grey wag.

Nice walk around llanfynod today, a bit quiet on the birdie front, a couple of buzzards + a dipper on the river by ffrith.

Waxwings

flock of 100 been reported around Maelor Hospital in Wrexham today moving around the top car park and rounabout by Ramada Hotel i saw a flock of 20 around 2.45pm.

Toddled along to Frodsham marshes on Sunday hoping for some Waxwing. Lots of Redwing about feeding on the berries, but no Waxwing. A few model aeroplanes too..

Solitary waxwing viewed from our back door 5mins ago! Perched at top of big tree behind boundary lane, saltney, flew off to north maybe to westminster park!

Popped into westminster park this am,both rowan trees (at Cowhey close & rowcliffe ave) have now been stripped bare!
But just had 150 waxwings behind our house in saltney, saw them from the back door and I popped out round the back to try for some photos. Lots of frenetic feeding before flying off NW into wales.

Saltney High St this morning 11am-1130, c100 waxwings! They were targeting a solitary rowan tree in the carpark by Ableworld, next to the social club.
Inbetween feeds they were gathering in the bigger trees opposite behind moorcroft terrace.

Very pleasant day out at point of ayr today for the high tide roost & to check out the new hide. Lots of the usual waders & wildfowl, quite spectacular! Teal, widgeon, shelduck, pintail, oystercatchers, redshanks ,curlew, bktailed godwits, cormorant, to name just a few.
Highlight was a female merlin scoffing its unfortunate prey, and a fox came to check on us just before I left.

A good size flock of waxwings currently mobile in saltney, chester, between boundary lane and the railway line, prob see them from the footbridge over the railway!

30 waxwings feeding this morning 9:30, in the tree on Saltney high st directly opposite doctors surgery in the school grounds, right next to the pavement. Flitting between this tree and the next big tree at west end of playing field 100m away.

At least three Velvet Scoters with the huge flock off Llandulas around 15:00 today, which were surprisingly easy to see given the unpromising weather.

River dee today between higher ferry and go outdoors saltney: fair few fieldfare, reed buntings scratching around exposed grassy clumps, also couple of herons + cormorants.

Excellent week in our garden in saltney! After a quiet winter, and on top of the regular visitors this week we had a sparrowhawk; 3 blackcaps have been popping in most days to eat the ivy berries; the local chiffchaff has popped in for a bath in the pond; a late brambling feeding below the sunflower feeder; and then yesterday a willow warbler 6' away from me after the greenfly on the rose! Brill, thought it was a chiffchaff at first but it was clearly calling "hooee" instead of "plinkplink"

Doh! Rereading my guidebook properly(!) the willow warbler goes "hoo-ee" and the chiffchaff "hoo-itt"! Listening to the calls on xeno, it wasn't a willow warbler! Doh! Whoever said "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing"!
