Fort Whyte Center 7 September

The best day this year at Fort Whyte.
Suspect with the exceptionally early spring a lot of the birds pushed further north.
On our 50 mile trip home we spotted 9 hawks roosting on hydro poles along the highway.
Two Gray Cheeked Thrushes flew past us, one killed itself by flying into a large metal pole. The surviving Thrush sat in a tree a short distance away for over an hour waiting for its mate to join it.

Carman 1-9 September

Hummingbirds seemed to have left a few days ago. We had our regular hummingbird still coming on the 6th then none until the the 8th when we saw just one visit during the day.
Having been away for 4 days to Riding Mtn the birds weren’t fed, and it appears the large flock of House Sparrows that we living in the large Lilac Bush across the street have moved on.
Sightings:
House Sparrow
White Breasted Nuthatch
Downy Woodpecker
Chickadee
Robin
Blue Jay
Crow
Mourning Dove
Canada Geese
Palm Warbler
Ruby Throated Hummingbird
