Riding Mountain Area 3-6 September
We spent 4 days in the area around Riding Mtn National Park.
We didn’t get a lot of time to go bird watching so most of our observations were in marshes along the highway.

Fort Whyte Center 7 September
The best day this year at Fort Whyte.
Suspect with the exceptionally early spring a lot of the birds pushed further north.
On our 50 mile trip home we spotted 9 hawks roosting on hydro poles along the highway.
Two Gray Cheeked Thrushes flew past us, one killed itself by flying into a large metal pole. The surviving Thrush sat in a tree a short distance away for over an hour waiting for its mate to join it.

Hummingbirds seemed to have left a few days ago. We had our regular hummingbird still coming on the 6th then none until the the 8th when we saw just one visit during the day.
Having been away for 4 days to Riding Mtn the birds weren’t fed, and it appears the large flock of House Sparrows that we living in the large Lilac Bush across the street have moved on.
