Long-eared Bat sp, West Sussex (1 Viewer)

Not an easy ID but this may help:

From that I would suggest Brown Long-eared Bat. Very nice to find in the garage!

John

Really good photos.

Despite them being our most common species (?), I see very few Brown Long Eared bats.

My encounters being of individuals hunting low, back and forth along a ride or footpath. Confirmed by a corresponding near radio silence on the bat detector, until they are really close.

I'd say here in Test Valley, my sightings of BLEs are easily outnumbered by sightings of common and soprano pipistrelle, Noctules, Serotine, Daubentens, and possibly even Barbastelle, and Nathusius Pipistrelle!

Natterer's is another species I find really hard to pin down in my area.
