There once was a birder from Crewe
Who's limericks used to end on line two.
But with patience and care,
He added lines rare,
Now his verses are complete, fresh, and new.
There was a young girl from Japan
Whose limericks never would scan.
When someone asked “Why?”,
She replied, with a sigh,
“I suppose it’s because whenever I come to finish the verse I try to cram as many syllables on the last line as I possibly can!”
Her friend, a young man from China
Had a taste for rhythm much finer.
His limericks tend
To come to an end
Suddenly!
There was an old man with a beard
Who said "It is just as I feared
Two owls and a hen
Four larks and a wren
Have all built their nests in my beard" - Edward Lear
