January 2022 Moths (1 Viewer)

I intend to keep a proper yearlist this year... So let's get started:-

1. Luffia lapidella (larvae) - 1st January
2. Winter Moth - 1st January

I reckon with a bit of travel around the country later in the year, 1,000 species should be possible and maybe 700 on the patch.

All the best

Paul

I did see a moth yesterday, courtesy of my mate down the road who had caught a Pale Brindled Beauty in his garden trap - strictly speaking a December 2021 moth though.

Yearlist has climbed a little higher:-
3. December Moth*
4. Light Brown Apple Moth
5. Ruby Tiger (larva)*
6. Common Quaker

All to garden traps.

All the best

Paul

Went to my first local trapping session at dawn this morning after what was by far the mildest night so far this year here. Reults:

Spring Usher7
Acleris logiana ( a new one for me)
Tortricoides alternella 15
Chestnut 17
Pale Brindled Beauty
March Moth

Pale Brindled Beauty & Grey Shoulder-knot NFY, also one Spring Usher, and a micro that I can't figure out.
