is it yellow horned? (1 Viewer)

CJW says we have to have interesting subject headings... so I've done my best.
;)
Last night I only caught four moths in my MV trap. Three were, I think, yellow horned and the other might be yet another clouded drab. But I'd appreciate a second op.
The flash has added an orangey tone to the presumed yellow horned. I'll attach a second pic of the same beast which is less sharp but truer in colour.
Thanks, Ken

Morning Ken,
I think you will find pics 2 and 3 are Lunar Marbled Brown Drymonia ruficornis. Yellow Horned are somewhat similar but lighter and more silvery in colour.

You are probably correct with the Clouded Drab but the Drabs as a group are very variable, and not to say somewhat difficult to separate at times.

Harry Eales.

I notice that the scientific name for yellow horned means 'yellow horned' and that for lunar marbled brown means 'rufous horned' so perhaps the confusion was forgiveable for a beginner!
