Attached two photos. Both are not good quality but I hope that they are good enough for an ID :

1. Thick -knee. Taken at Tarangire NP Tanzania. I thought it is a Senegal Thick-knee, however this sp. should not be found there acc. to the literature. I thought it is a Senegal Thick - knee because of the lenght of the bill and the white colour around the eyes. On the other hand it shows the white stripe on the wing which is typical for the Water Thick-knee.

2. Eagle. Taken at Nkomazi NP, northern Tanzania. Looked for me like a Greater spotted Eagle. Sorry for the very poor photo Quality.

Thanks for your help
Volker

Water Thick-knee

I'll leave the Aquila to Tom or Tib

Andy

Agree on Water Thick-knee

the nape patch is quite typical for Steppe and the bill too huge for GSE, some barring just visible on inner secondaries is also good for Steppe, Tawny still the default one. When was the picture taken (if in summer it's most probably still a Tawny)
