I photographed this bird today and a few days earlier. It seems to have Ruby-throated gorget developing but also has long, white feathers more like those of a Calliope or Anna's. What do you think? Another birder thought it was deformed based on feathers on the back of its head .?Hummingbird-3-5219.jpg?Hummingbird-1-5759.jpg?Hummingbird-2-2.jpg?Hummingbird-3-5217.jpg

My best guess is an immature male Ruby-throated, but there could be more to this bird that I'm not picking up on.

Thanks for the reply. I went back today and got many more photos from closer. It is these long thin white feathers that is most puzzling.

My guess would be that those white feathers on the throat are still developing and that they may look quite different when they finish that process.
