Recently relocated to this area. Have yet to find a website dedicated to sightings in the area, or a bird club in this part of the county of Northumberland. Any suggestions?
Northumberland & Tyneside Bird Club http://www.ntbc.org.uk/ - covers the whole of Northumberland.
There's nothing specific to just the Hexham area, basically the population isn't high enough to support a dedicated birding club, there's probably not more than 10-20 birders resident in the whole area.

I think Nutcracker is mistaken about the Tyne Valley:
Wylam Bird club - http://www.wylambirdclub.co.uk/ - an active group with indoor meetings and good field trip
programme PM me if you want more details
Tynedale U3A - if you are of a certain age - there is a very active Birding Group - again PM me if interested and I will forward the programme
Also good birding areas on the immediate doorstep - Grindon Lough especially good at the moment, but also Whittle Dean, Slaley and Allendale Moors (in the Spring)
