Walked up to Helsington Barrows via Scout Scar.Did not expect to see much as it was mid afternoon.
Had a pleasant surprise though.
There were 3 Stonechat and some Meadow Pippet just outside the wood.
Then as I neared the central Oak Wood area there were loads of birds flying in and out of the trees for about half an hour including:
25 Mistle Thrush
3 Spotted Flycatcher
1 Redstart
2 Blackcap
2 Willow Warbler
1 Marsh Tit
3 Green Woodpecker
1 G.S. Woodpecker
1 Treecreeper
2 Nutatch
4 Bullfinch
2 Blackbird
4 Great Tit
6 Blue Tit
1 Coal Tit
1 Greenfinch
It was one of those magical moments you sometimes get birdwatching.
You do not expect to see much and you are taken by surprise.Brilliant!
