Hello,

In two weeks I am going to Lima just for 4 days of which 3 mornings will be occupied by work. Anybody know of any decent birding places in/around Lima to fill in the afternoons? For the day i'm off I would like to do some kind of day trip not too far away. Any advise/suggestions welcome!!

Thanx

the seafront at Miraflores can be very good fro seabirds

Lomas de Lachay and Pantanos de Villa are also nearby

You might also think about a pelagic - I didn't do one but it isn't hard to organise - Gunnar Engblom of Kolibri Expeditions might be able to help out...

The seafront at Callao (close to the airport) is also great for "normal" seabirds and shorebirds?

Hi Steve
I echo Tim's suggestions. You may also want to contact Thomas Valqui ([email protected]) who has written an excellent 'where to watch' type guide giving all the kilometre markers on roads etc. He would also act as a guide if required or at least give you all the local gen.
Driving in Lima is not for the feint hearted and I would suggest that you get hold of a very good city map before you depart.
Have a look at my web site for a trip report that I did for my trip in Aug 2006.
