Hello! Question on Robin Behavior (1 Viewer)

Hello! New to the forum. I have a robin couple that have been trying to build a nest on our porch beam for about a month now. There's no sidings so when the female tries to push from the inside out to make the bottom cup shape, everything falls over the sides. How long are they going to keep at it? I'm hoping she doesn't lay eggs directly onto the beam, they'll just roll away... Thanks!

Hi Catmatt and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. It sounds like they're a young couple, who haven't yet, got the hang of nest building. No doubt they'll soon get the the hang of it.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Welcome to Birdforum. I hope you enjoy your visits.

Hopefully they will find a more suitable place to build a nest.

Hi, welcome to the forum. I think you will find us a friendly and helpful group. Can’t help with nest question, except to say good luck to you and your robins.
