Hello all, another UK newbie checking in - suggestions for east anglia at this time of year? (1 Viewer)

Not new to photography but am very new to birding, and absolutely loving it!

My local reserve (RSPB Fowlmere) had quite a lot of activity in the autumn but has got awfully quiet since the cold snap. Where would you suggest that's close-ish to Cambridge for me to go and see and learn? I'm off work so Suffolk coast or Lincolnshire are both possibles this week!

Hi Mike and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. Apart from Minsmere we have a number of other sites, both in Suffolk and Cambridgeshire in our Opus articles, So I hope they give you some inspiration. I hope we may be able to see some of your pictures in the Gallery too.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Welcome aboard Mike and trust me, it won't be long before you are so hooked on birds it will drive you nuts ;)

Hi Mike, I'm in North Norfolk & if you've never been, I can't recommend highly enough the RSPB reserve at Titchwell (twitchwell as it's often referred to). Coming up from Cambridge you'll also pass RSPB Snettisham near Hunstanton & NWT Holme Dunes. Well worth the journey but if you were only going to visit one then it has to be Titchwell. On a good day it's easy to spend hours observing the scrapes (fresh, brackish & salt water). Then the beach is great for a long walk, loads of shoreline birds & you never know what you might spot out at sea.
