Hi, can anyone advise: I’m planning a Gambia and/or Senegal trip for Easter 2018, i.e. late March and early April. This will be two weeks and I plan to go back another time for another two weeks. I reckon these are the sections I need to visit in total to give a really thorough coverage:
# A selection of well-known West Gambian sites including upriver for Egyptian Plover.
# Sahel region of Senegal (north) for, e.g. Arabian Bustard, Cricket Warbler, Black Scrub-Robin, etc.
# Saloum Delta and Kaolack areas for, e.g. Savile’s Bustard, WC Tiger-Heron, Quail Plover, Scissor-tailed Kite, etc.
# South-east Senegal, i.e. Niokolo-Koba, etc.
My concern is the Easter season and things like sand storms, extreme heat, seasonal movements of key species, etc.
Can anyone suggest the sections I should target at Easter with reasons why?
Equally, the sections I should leave for another time / different season, also with reasons?
A travel-efficient itinerary would also be pretty important.
Would be great to hear ideas.
Thanks in advance,
Andy
Ps. If it comes to the crunch, the endemics and regional endemics are the most important species for me.
