Determining the date of manufacture of the Hartmann Wetzlar binoculars (1 Viewer)

Thank you Jan, from the serial number i would have expected it to be produced around 1975. Do you know if guarantie card is for second hand or initial sale?
Hi W,

According to the pré owner he bought it new from that dealer. He did not have the original bill anymore.
Only God knows how long it has stayed in that shop before it was sold (or ordered at Hartmann's).

Jan

Hello
I recently bought a pair of binoculars at a secondhand shop and subsequently found this forum when searching for them online.
I was wondering if they're genuine and how old they are

Hi and welcome.

The binocular looks genuine, but I don't know when made.

The binocular seems to be in good condition, hopefully well aligned and free from internal moisture or fungus.

Regards,
B.

After WWll the Leichtmetall Porlerims had until ~1948 no Made in Germany on it. Only Made in US Zone Germany or nothing. Also the prism shift mechanism was different in the early post war area as the have only one middled screw on the prism cover plate. I know that at least in 1955 they used again the wegde prism shift mechanism hidden under the two screws of the prism cover plate.

So your example must be between 1949 and 1955, based on the serial number I would guess 1950.
