Crested Tit status in southern Liguria, Italy (1 Viewer)

Hopefully this is the right forum for this post. I also posted this in Information Wanted but no takers yet.

I was on a family vacation in Italy in July, so although not a birding trip I did make note and record the birds I saw. On July 10 I observed at least 4 Crested Tit (as many as 6) in the Parco Naturale Regionale di Montemarcello area in Liguria. Looking at the range maps in Lars Johnsson guide and looking at the Bird Guides web site it seems this is south of the regular range for the species. Does anyone know (or can point me in the direction to find out) if this is a good record or expected in this area?

Any comments are appreciated. I did manage one reasonable photo of 1 Crested Tit. I have seen this species before, albeit many years ago, but am certain of the ID.

Best birds,

Arun Bose

It is mapped there (just, right at the edge of its range) by BWP Concise and Collins Bird Guide. So you can trust your eyes safely :t:

Certainly worth submitting the record; sounds like a family party, and proof of breeding is likely to be welcomed.
