Oil slick hits East Coast after killing sea birds......
An oil slick which has killed hundreds of sea birds on the East Coast has reached Cleethorpes. So far the oil has claimed the life of around five birds off the Cleethorpes coast and a seal has also been rescued, while in the Yarmouth area the number of oil-affected birds has risen to around 600. A team of workers from North East Lincolnshire Council were due to set out at first light today to clear the oil from Cleethorpes sea front. The area affected stretches from the Wonderland to Humberston Fitties. The source of the oil is unknown and is thought to have possibly sprung from an old wreck lying on the seabed which has rusted away.
