Birding Tuscany (1 Viewer)

Hi Jon

The Monti Pisani is a good area, not far from you, but I have no specific sites. I went looking for Orchids in one of the valleys there, and had Short-toed eagle.

Would be worth getting a Birdwatcher's guide to Italy by Ruggieri, published by Lynx. It lists nine sites for Tuscany, including the Macchia Lucchese, near to where you are staying.

In winter, the quarries have Wallcreepers, though I dipped when I went in 2010.

If you pm me I can give you a couple of contacts who live locally and might be able to help.

Cheers

Sean
