Okay okay...so I've been a birder for many years, but recently I'm becoming equally interested in herps (reptiles and amphibians). I'm planning a few days in the southern Appalachians for endemic salamanders then going to try to find some neat snakes, frogs, lizards, etc in the coastal plain region of South Carolina for a few days.
While I'm around Francis Marion National Forest, I'm interested in finding some neat shorebirds (oystercatchers, willets, wilson's plovers, red knots, etc) as well as some terns, rails, etc. Can anybody tell me where a nice coastal beach would be where I could find many of these species??
Thanks!
