Baby Hummer seems to be missing it's mom (1 Viewer)

I have a hummer nest in a small tree in a place I just moved into. A few days ago I saw the mom sitting on the nest, now there's a baby and an egg in there and I've not seen the mom in a day or so. Any idea how often the mom needs to be in the nest and how often they feed the babies? I took this pic yesterday. Should I just leave things be or do something? I just made up some nectar and I'm going to be the feeder close by.

Thanks!

Birds often visit the nest very briefly to feed the babies, so they don't attract the attention of predators. It's important for you to stay far away from the nest, as the parents will otherwise be too nervous to approach. It's normal to not see the parents too much.

Do you have binoculars? You could look in the evening, from a distance, to see if a parent is sitting on them.

If they're abandoned, you can't care for them. Hummingbirds are extremely difficult to raise, even for experts. If they're abandoned, they need to go to a wildlife rescue with hummingbird experience. That said, they're probably not abandoned.

Sorry about that!

I would be cautious about putting a feeder anywhere near the nest. Hummingbirds can be extremely territorial around feeders, and it'd be awful for some other hummer to constantly harass the mother away from the nest in defense of the feeder.
