Arctic Redpoll? Identification, please? (1 Viewer)

I think this is a Hornemann's based on size (maybe prematurely). The same photos posted on i/d thread has led to some suggesting exilipes based on structure.

Any thoughts?

Well size and what you can see on plumage says Horny very loudly but the primary projection is a lot less than I'd expect!

Its also got very worn tertials which seem a bit weird

NW Cheshire. Not far from Chester.
Slightly fuzzy profile pic, for beak shape. Much smaller beak than Lessers'.

Interesting to see it appears to have a single streak on largest under tail covert. Flank streaking minimal compared to this bird on Unst in 2012.

The Cheshire bird has the body structure of the bird on the right Hornemanni.

I thought that too. I thought the size and structure was a clincher.
