It was reported on 24 June 2017 - `Sandwich Terns ONLY 8 -a catastrophic failed breeding season - no birds seen returning with sand eels`
What has caused this dramatic abandoning of the nesting site, I was there on the 6th June and a few birds were returning with food, but only with single eels!
photo taken on the 6th. I note that other sites in Wales have suffered the same plight.
Has it been the storm/winds that have created problems in catching eels?, it hardly seems possible that predation is the cause on TWO sites at the same time.
