Over the past 30 years, there has been a trend to the earlier arrival of many summer migrants. This year seems to have reversed that trend. The persistent cold northerly winds in April and May appear to have delayed the migration by 2 to 4 weeks. For example, I had a nil return for Nightingales during the survey period but a week later, singing males were present. One person's anecdotal evidence is of little consequence. I wonder if others have similar or contrary evidence.
