    The only one

    We got down off the mountain and went to Hinterland Park, where we sat and had a cup of tea and a bit more of Judy's cake! Suddenly Hans spotted a Spangled Drongo in a tree on the edge of the park. The only drongo I've seen and the only picture I got of one.

    I know, I know. I should have followed my own advice and bumped up the exposure. I was too slow to do it, though, so all I got was this silhouette. Still, even in silhouette, it's recognizable as a Drongo, and it's the best shot I got of this lifer.

    An unfortunate name for a bird here in Oz as a Drongo is a slang word for somebody that has done something stupid. Just enough sunlight coming through the branches to show off that lovely red eye .
