  1. Short-eared Owl

    Short-eared Owl

One of half a dozen Short Eared Owls overwintering in the area - attracting a lot of toggers (many with zero field craft - or even binoculars!). With patience the owls show very well here without the need to disturb them or enter the marshes where they prefer to hunt. This day also blessed...
  2. Wren (and cobwebs)

    Wren (and cobwebs)

this little guy conveniently lives at the birdhide, so not shy or hard to find....
  3. Grey Seal

    Grey Seal

This was the first Seal we saw when we moved to Norfolk, on the day we arrived. A lovely welcome.

Little Tern. I am lucky enough to live 10 minutes from one of the largest (possibly the largest) colonies of these birds in the UK. There haven't been as many making the journey this year. Fabulous little birds (fast though!)

Swallowtail. Norfolk is the only county in the UK to see these amazing Butterflies, so it would be rude not to post a favourite from this year.], given I live 20 minutes from the best site.

    Shorelark at Holkham

One of the 4 or 5 Shorelarks at Holkham. A bit distant for anything other than a record shot and not great light but nice to get something.

    Crossbill Laxia curvirostra

Long story, we had terrible weather in Norfolk during Week commencing 23 May 2021. Rain, Wind and squalls, having been on the way back to the car with zero birds seen, I nipped behind a bush only to be called back by my wife because these were drinking from a puddle and had then flown into...

Late For Wren Nesting, or Average ? - (Plus A Chaffinch Briefly Interferes)

Am pretty stoked at the minute, as we have FOUR different types (species) of Birds nesting around our countryside house in less than orange throwing distance. Whilst the other three ARE regulars (year after year), another high dedicated box that I put-up last year is now in use. It's about...

    Common Gull

Photographed at Salthouse in Norfolk, my limited birding experience always leads me into thinking I have found a Ring-billed Gull but, on further inspection they always turn out to be Common.
