    Kettle in southern Germany

Hello, I was recently riding a bus in southern Germany near Salzburg, Austria and observed a kettle of about a dozen large birds high in the sky near a mountain. It reminded me of Turkey Vultures back home in the US and I'm wondering what species this might have been in Germany. It looked...

Shape reminded me of a Northern Mockingbird. It looked grayish and had an obvious white patch on each wing and white in the tail. Very brief...

    Odd goose in Germany

Hello, I was recently traveling in Germany and observed this goose at the English Garden in Munich. Clearly it has Bar-headed Goose genes, but I'm wondering what else might be involved. Partly domestic or a hybrid? Thanks for any thoughts! TK

    Moorhen Relaxing

I love moorhens, their beaks are so colourful and quite unlike anything I've seen around here! It's a shame they're on the "nearly threatened" list here in Germany.

    New Lifer — Northern Wheatear!

A new nature reserve has been opened to the public near my office. It's a hill that used to be an old landfill but that has been rewilded over the past few years. A few weeks ago, it was opened to the public. I took a quick trip there today in what was way too hot weather: but it was worth it...
