    Meet the 'peckers

I've been photographing a pair of GSW for the last couple of years and sometimes capture a video or two so, I'm going to collect their story this year, if possible, in the hope they'll bring the youngsters back again. Looks like pop has been nest building already. Meet the 'peckers 2024

Chaos in the garden on snowy day

February 9th saw a day of sleet and snow with cold wind blowing all day. The birds flocked to the feeders, mainly Chaffinch but a good showing of five or more Brambling made it a good day for me and the camera. February 9th in the snow

    Hummers in Tennessee

Hi guys. Never asked anything on a forum but I have a question that I cannot find the answer to. In outside Memphis Tennessee area I have put glass hummingbird feeders out for 4 years but this year I am finding about 10-15 house flies in reservoir of feeders. I take down weekly and scrub with...

Best value sunflower hearts available in NE US?

Can anyone recommend best value sunflower hearts sources in the US, particularly in the NE? Many stores sell small bags at very high prices. The best I've seen so far was 25 lbs for $50 on Amazon.

    See-sawing

One head came out, the other popped in!! I couldn't get a picture of both of them with their heads out of the feeding holes. Not fair is it! I had to go to Loch of the Lowes to stock up with their peanut butter, so take the opportunity to sit awhile and see what's around. The late afternoon...

    SAT FUN: Waiting

In the search for food, have your wading birds, and then you have your "waiting" birds. These birds are engaged in a behaviour I like to call "feederwaiting." In other words, just hanging around waiting for me to make a delivery. As you can see, the dove is particularly...

It seems to me there is less domination and more sharing of the food on rainy day.
