    Barn swallow

Well, I was in the rain, and there were swallows hunting over a pond. Why not? It is not the best photo, but I had the most fun trying to photograph these fast flyers in these tough conditions. This bird's wings look very tattered.

    Young ones

On our way up to the Patch towards the end of September we found a few Barn Swallows on the overhead wires. From this picture it looks like there's two ages of youngsters here... the one on the left looks far more advanced than the one on the right?

    Not very tuneful

On our way Up the Hill there were some young Barn Swallows on the overhead wires, which we stopped to photograph. In the past I'd have struggled to get them all in as there were so many. So jam-packed in it was impossible to count them. This time the struggle was because they're so spaced out...

    Injured juvenile barn swallow

Hello! A juvenile barn swallow was found on the ground at a horse farm. It was trying to fly up onto a concrete area, but couldn't because the concrete area was too high (only about 2 inches). Upon investigation, the bird's wings were injured, with the flight feathers on the halves of the...

Amazing level of skill ... ... commitment organization and diligence ... He had picked up two long sticks ... ... but did not leave ... pushed them to the back part of his bill ... then proceeded to roll up a wet mud pellet ... ... to mop up the shopping list for making that beautifully...

    swallows and martins

Significant migration of swallows and martins today. Many barn swallows and several house and sand martins, as well as crag martins, regularly joined by good numbers of alpine swifts. Unfortunately the light was rather poor (we had a lot of snow over the weekend). On the picture there's mainly...
