    I have been persuaded by others that it is indeed an acorn weevil.

    Yes that is the other strong contender. I thought the antennae looked more like nucum going on this Acorn Weevil | NatureSpot but I am not totally confident.

    A Curculio sp. Possibly - going on the antennae - it's C. nucum but any help welcome. Advice from other places seems to be rather split. Newbourne Springs, Suffolk 5/4/24.
