    Swifts gone

    Swifts-Orkney I saw a group of 4 swifts flying south on Papa Westray, Orkney last week. They don't nest in Orkney (and I don't think in Shetland) so where would they have been coming from? Maybe Scottish mainland birds come north before heading south?....or do they nest in northern Scandinavia...

    Hi there Gill Well I stopped at Low Hauxley near Amble last night and looked out to sea and 7 Manx Shearwater pass by almost immediately. Just west of Amble, I saw a Red Grouse-it flew in front of the car! For me, Wryneck, Serin, Capercaillie and Grey Phalarope would be good. Not megas, but...
