Help for next week - Sproughton

Hi Joe, the area I think you are referring to is an Island formed by the course of the River Gipping and an old canal cut, the small lakes are very difficult to access from the Industrial Estate. There was an old Bailey Bridge from the old Sugar Beet Factory, to get to it you would have to...

water level Hi Sean, glad you saw plenty on your excursion, still waiting for my first cuckoo, as regards Alton in my expierence it seems that every year they top the res to the brim, just after the waterfowl have built nests and have eggs in them. Why they can't do this in Jan/Feb is a mystery...

    Anglian Water levels at Alton

Yet again (as in most years) I am mystified by Anglian Waters decision making regarding the water levels at Alton Water Reservoir. All winter when we've had plenty of rainfall they have had the water level 2-4 ft below maximum, now just as the Swans,Grebes, Water rail, Coots and Ducks have...

Alton Hi (PaulE) , hope you had some luck with the GNDiver, the bird I saw didn't seem at all unperturbed by my presence so was able to get good views of it. It can cover a huge distance underwater over 50 metres I'm sure, so in that respect it is quite mobile. I think the Goldeneye are great...
