I am only a very casual birdwatcher and nature enthusiast, so my review is what a layman's experience would be and certainty not an expert nor connoisseur in optics.
First impression is that its light and the image stabilisation makes immediate difference to the usage experience.
On comparison with the current best binoculars I have, a Zeiss Terra 10X42ED, I find the brightness and details on par in daylight, both suffered from minor CA which is not a big issue. In lowlight situations the Zeiss performs better. The 12 times of the Canon does gives an impression of better details than the Zeiss, but the Zeiss has a better field of view, 287' versus 331' at 1000 yards.
I wear glasses and the eye relief is just right for me once the eye cups are folded down.
