Identification
24cm. Sooty-brown with blue or grey cast, paler upperwing coverts forming a prominent diagonal bar, pale rump.
Distribution
Breeds and ranges Hawaii, Izu and Volcano islands
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.[1]
Habitat
Pelagic.
Behaviour
The diet includes crustaceans, small squid and octopus. Most prey is caught on the wing or when resting on the water's surface.
