  • Grey crown
  • Black sides to head
  • Long white supercilium
  • White chin and throat
  • White patch below eye
  • Black half collar (narrower in female)
  • Dark red orbital skin
  • Olive back and tail, barred black
  • Rufous wings with 3 grey bars
  • Blue-grey breast
  • White streaked flanks
  • White belly
  • Whitish undertail coverts
  • Brown iris
  • Blackish-grey bill
  • Red legs

Distribution

Montane forests of Taiwan.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Central mountains and temperate broadleaf forests.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes seeds, berries, worms, and insects.

Breeding

The nest is placed in a crevice in boulders; the clutch consists of 6-8 which are incubated for 20-21 days.
