Otus insularis

Identification

19 and 22 cm. Rufous brown with black shaft streaks, rufous underparts and the facial disc, long, grey, unfeathered legs. Large and golden yellow eyes and very small ear tufts.

Mahé, Seychelles

Taxonomy

Habitat

Upland forests.

Behaviour

The diet includes insects, spiders, possibly frogs and small lizards.

It nests in hollow trees and 1 white egg is laid.
