Identification

20–23 cm

  • Blackish-green crown and head sides
  • Reddish upperparts and tail

Distribution

South America: found in western Amazonia, from southeastern Colombia to eastern Ecuador, eastern Peru (south to Ucayali) and east to western Brazil (east at least to the Juruá)".

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Primary and secondary terra firme forests, forest edges and clearings. Observed at heights around 861 m.

Behaviour

There is little information available, but it is thought their diet may be similar to Rufous-tailed Jacamar.
