Identification

12 cm

  • Lavender-blue head, neck and throat
  • Black lores

Distribution

South America: found in south-eastern Colombia to southern Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, northern Bolivia and western Brazil.

This is a monotypic species[1].

This species used to be placed in genus Tangara.

Habitat

Lightly wooded areas, humid forest edges, foothill lodge grounds. Observed at heights around 861m.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists mostly of fruits and small berries. Supplemented with arthropods.
