Identification
43–46 cm (17-18 in)
- Large black and yellow striped bill
- Bare blue skin around eyes
- Blackish-green upperparts and tail feathers
- Reddish uppertail
- Underparts has alternate yellow versus black-and-red pectoral bands
Similar Species
There is no mistaking the 2 black belts on the yellow belly. No other aracari has two bands across the belly.
Distribution
South America: found in north-eastern Colombia to southern Venezuela, north-eastern Peru and north-western Amazonian Brazil

Habitat
Humid lowland forests and sandy soil woodlands. Terra firme forest canopy and primary foothill rainforest
Behaviour
Diet
Diet consists of fruits and arthropods, but has been little recorded, foraging in the canopy with small groups. They digest the fruit fibre and regurgitate the seeds. Often occurs in small, noisy bands.
