Ducula cuprea

Identification

  • Grey fore-end both above and below, with vinous wash to crown
  • Throat, chin and ear coverts paler but with pinkish wash
  • Earth-brown wings and lower back
  • Ochre vent area with darker spots
  • Eye dark brown, eye-ring purplish

Distribution

Southwest India (Western Ghats from Goa to Kerala)

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Formerly included in Mountain Imperial Pigeon

Habitat

Forest in low but mainly higher elevation including mountains.
