Identification

33–35 cm (13-13¾ in)

  • Green upperparts
  • Green tail, with chestnut tips
  • Red and black bill

Distribution

South America: found from extreme south-eastern Venezuela to the Guianas and northern Brazil north of the Amazon.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species1.

Habitat

Moist lowland and hill forests; and gallery forests in savanna.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists mostly of fruit, especially peppers and includes, figs and palm fruits. They also eat insects.
