- Dark tipped reddish lower mandible
Sexes similar.
Distribution
In South America, it is found on the eastern slope of the Andes of Peru (s Huánuco to s Puno)
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Some authorities for a while placed this species in the genus Leucippus.
Habitat
Disturbed secondary montane evergreen forest with ornamentals. Humid Subtropical Life Zone. Hotel gardens. Observed at heights around 2040 m elevation
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists mostly of nectar. They will visit feeders.
